Film Photo
Ember has been working with film photography since her sophomore year of high school. She began experimenting with manipulating and developing film and gained a better understanding of how light affects an image. She learned to be more mindful in regard to composition, subject matter, and dedication. Ember enjoys the challenge of making a photo interesting without the distraction of color. Black and white photography allows for more energy to be directed to composition, lighting, and shading. Having so few shots for each role forces Ember to make each shot count. One of Ember's favorite photos is of water droplets on a window. She enjoys this photo so much because it was an experiment with backlighting which can be risky especially when you only have so many photos. She is thrilled at how the image turned out and excited to push the boundaries of her previous works and the “rules” of photography.
