Chagrin Falls Photography Field Trip
On December 2, film and digital photography students went on a field trip to the Cleveland Flats, West Side Market, and Public Square. Students embarked on their journey at 8:45 am. the classes soon arrived at the Cleveland Flats. The Cleveland Flats are known for a thriving night life. The majority of buildings are from the previous steel industry Cleveland is so well known for. This older architecture makes for a very intriguing subject matter. Many students took a lot of photos centering on the architecture and railroad tracks along the Cuyahoga River. At 11:00 students loaded onto the buses and headed to the West Side Market to capture some images of the bustling food industry as well as customer and business interactions. West Side Market became a public market in 1840 and was deemed a historical site in 1973. Today it is a staple of Cleveland life. After filling up on some baklava and recharging with some coffee, students loaded back onto the busses and headed to Public Square. At Public Square, students took photos of architecture and people living there. Public Square is the heart of the city and has so much to offer a crowd of young photographers. At 2:00 students headed back to school full of excitement and eager to edit and process their images.
